About Me

I was born and raised in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. During my childhood, I loved exploring the beautiful nature that the Twin Cities has to offer. I also spent my time watching and playing baseball; rooting for the Twins and idolizing First Baseman Justin Morneau.

As I was growing up, I became interested in music. First as a baritone-turned-tubist for my school’s band. After I made a deal with a classmate to learn bass in my freshman year, I grew to enjoy rock, funk, and electronic music. I spent afternoons building my calluses while learning Rush songs.

Eventually, in my sophomore year at the University of Minnesota, I discovered Radio K and joined to become a Music DJ. As part of that process I volunteered for the arts culture show Real College Podcast to gain volunteer hours on my way to becoming a DJ. After producing a couple of stories, I found myself enjoying the process and decided to stick with it. Fast forward a year and a half, and I had the opportunity to host the show.

It was as host that I truly realized that journalism was the career path I wanted to stick to. I started listening to MPR News, BBC World service everyday, and found myself trying to emulate the creative narratives on shows such as Radiolab and This American Life.

When I’m not working, I still try to find stories to report on. These topics range from environmental science, to the ethics of music streaming, or even the evolution of an artist’s musical style.
