About Me

I was born and raised in Saint Louis Park, Minnesota. During my childhood, I learned to love exploring the beautiful nature that the Twin Cities had to offer. I spent my time watching and playing baseball. Specifically rooting for the Twins and idolizing First Baseman Justin Morneau.

As I was growing up, I became interested in music. First as a baritone-turned-tubist for my school’s band. After making a deal to help a classmate learn the tuba in exchange for learning the bass in my freshman year. From there my slow love for rock, funk, and electronic music started to develop. I spent afternoons building my calluses while learning Rush songs.

Eventually, in my sophomore year at the University of Minnesota, I discovered Radio K and joined to became a Music DJ. As part of that process I volunteered for the arts culture show Real College Podcast to gain volunteer hours on my way to becoming a DJ. After producing a couple of stories, I found myself enjoying the process and decided to stick with it. Fast forward a year and a half, and I had the opportunity to host the show.

It was as host that I truly realized that journalism was the career path I wanted to stick to. I started listening to MPR News, BBC World service everyday, and found myself trying to emulate the creative narratives on shows such as Radiolab and This American Life.

When I’m not working, I’m still trying to go out and find stories to report on, or dig deeper into a subject I’m interested in. These topics range from environmental science, to the ethics of music streaming, or even the evolution of an artist’s musical style.
